What can I do to make sure I am becoming the best version of myself?

Here are 10 profound ways to help you become the best version of yourself.

#1: Be ready to shred your old self completely.

Becoming the best version of yourself means that you’re going to move away from where you are, so you must be willing to shred your old self. When you’re raising your own bar, you’re essentially creating a gap between you and people around you. Your old self is going to resist that – don’t let the resistance get its way.

Let go of certainty and embrace uncertainty instead. Nothing is certain, after all. The earlier you realize this, the more you can improve.

#2: Acknowledge your fear. Then, tame it like a master.

Most people are unable to even take action because of fear. Don’t let it limit you. Admit that you’re fearful, but proceed anyway. Anyone who say he has no fear is not telling you the full story. The full story is, he has tamed his fear.

The things you’re looking forward could be just right at the edge of your comfort zone. Be courageous. It’s okay to make mistakes – as long as you don’t make the foolhardy ones.

#3: Vigorous self-education. Read. Get Mentors. Observe. Experiment.

The best people never stop learning. If you want to be the best version of yourself, do what they do. “Formal education will make you a living, but self-education will make you a fortune” — Jim Rohn.

Never let school interfere your education. Actively educate yourself about topics which can bring you to your greatest height and all your heart into it.

#4: Prioritize output over input. Don’t get trapped in eternal study!

You can never consume all information, strategies and tactics available. Gathering input is necessary, but it means nothing without output. On the other hand, scarcity creates value. What are scarce? Massive action. Shipping. Delivery. Impact.

In short, outputs are scarce. Be conscious about your input/output ratio.

#5: Think long term – like 10 years down the road.

It’s always easier to enjoy watching TV compared to hitting the gym. Most people cling to instant gratification, because it feels good in the short run. However, the opportunity cost is huge. When you spend an hour on mindless TV watching, you could have read a book which will potentially increase your income by 50%. In other words, you sacrifice that amount of income increment to watch pointless cat videos.

Learn to postpone immediate pleasures for long-term values. The ROI will be phenomenal. Put opportunity cost into your perspective. Things won’t go exactly as planned, but having a big-picture vision helps you move towards the direction you want.

#6: Be 1% better everyday. After a year, you’ll be 3700% better.

Do the math. It’s 3778.34%, to be more accurate. People aim for unrealistic growth over the short term, especially when they’re super motivated. The problem is, that’s not sustainable.

Since you’re looking for long term improvement, consider making compounding effect your best friend.

#7: Amplify your strengths. You can be anything, but you can’t be everything.

If you have strengths, amplify them. For example, I have decent English writing and communication skills, and I use these strengths to teach English classes. The classes turn out to be quite successful.

If you have certain weaknesses, build a team with complementary skills to cover your weakness. Don’t waste too much time correcting your weakness when someone else can handle the part for you. Amplify your strengths.

#8: Form your success cabinet and shoot for the stars.

You’re the average of five people you spend the most time with, because that’s who you subconsciously set benchmark against. To reach maximum height, you’ll need a group of high performance, trustworthy people around you. They will your benchmarks at least 10x higher. I call them the success cabinet.

Form your own success cabinet and find ways to bring value to the table. Lift each other up. Cultivate genuine relationships. By doing so you’ll improve immensely.

#9: Give what you have. What are you rich at? Figure that out.

You may think that you have nothing to give, but in fact you do. Everyone is rich in some way. Things you can give include money, smiles, inspiration, confidence, skills, arts, musics, jokes, free rides, services, expertise, past experience, wisdom and many, many more. So yeah, you must be rich at something.

Giving what you have forces you to tap into your potential – What do you have in abundance that people are looking for? The more you give, the more you get. But don’t focus on what you’ll get. Just give, give, give. I was reluctant to give, but now I realize that giving is one of the most fulfilling things I can do.

#10: Solve real problems and adjust along the way.

Solving imaginary problems can be helpful, but it’s often fear and procrastination in disguise. Well, I made this mistake and wasted months. If you’re doing the same, get out of your head and solve real problems instead. If you fail, good. You’ve identified a way which doesn’t work. You’ve learnt something. Now, go out and do it again. Reiterate until success.

Along the way, you’ll also learn how to make adjustments. Every master was once a disaster. Keep doing this and you’ll find ways to offer value and be a linchpin. It’s not easy, but achievable.

The most important of all, enjoy the journey.

CHAI TIME

Chai and it’s different roles in the Indian society.

steaming_chai
1. Helps you win hearts: Are you a part of one of those households where one member of the house has to make 6 different types of tea depending upon the preferences of the other members? That’s ONE HELL of a job. If you don’t mess this one up, you’ve won 6 hearts.
2. Forms the basis to your sukhi vivaahit jeevan: If you’re unmarried and still do it like a pro, perfectly balancing the chai ki tray tray and placing it in the center of the table surrounded by people staring at you while you’re doing all this, you’re eligible to become the perfect bahu of the house. Rishta pakka samjho!
3. Stress buster: #ChaiSuttaTales
This is particularly relatable for people working in corporates with 100 files and deadlines ahead of them. You’ll often find people outside corporate offices with their sleeves rolled up, ties loosened, enjoying every sip of their cutting chai and every drag of their/borrowed cigarette. For these people, their chai time by the nukkad is of utmost importance; afterall, where else will they complaint about their fellow employees not working and wasting time and whining about their devilish bosses to their favourite colleagues?

4. Solution to all life problems: Having a rough day at work? Fought with your best friend? Had a break-up? Lost your job? “Chal ek chai peeke aate hain fir sochte hain kya karna hai.” is what your friend’s going to tell you whatever the issue may be.
5. Mind alarm: Once you’ve woken up, brushed and taken a shower (or not), your body is fresh, but your mind is still asleep. For your brand to function and to kickstart your day, you need the perfect amalgamation of tea leaves, milk, sugar and one vital ingredient: ginger. One cup chai a day, keeps the tension away.

6. Aids in creating deeper friendships:
situation #1:
Friend: I’m not really a tea person.
Me: Well, then you’re not really my person.
situation #2:
Me: Hey, do you like tea?
Friend: I love tea.
Me: You’re my best friend.

THE “BEST” TIME SPENT

My take on the buses of Mumbai.

“Change can’t be given to you every time, You Must Bring the Change.”

Great lines said by…
Khyali Ram (Bus Conductor)…. Now read once again.

BEST buses where BEST stands for BRIHANMUMBAI ELECTRIC SUPPLY AND TRANSPORT ( Bet most of y’all didn’t know that). Politics,  environment, global issues have been the topic of criticism always. So let’s talk about something else today for a change? How about criticizing the BEST today?  Just kidding, would just like to put some light on an issue i personally face everyday along with many others.
Well, as a regular user,  let me tell you that i get a late mark almost everyday. ( my teachers have given up on me now. Ugh)
My 8:26 bus has it’s own mood. It’ll be on time one day and half an hour late the other day.
maxresdefault
And of course, the crowd. You’re lucky if you’re standing on both your legs throughout the journey.
Indian buses are always crowed which makes it a less boring ride until the destination is arrived. As best buses everyday gets 1000s of people to their places.
Here women have seats reserved for themselves where if a man unintentionally or intentionally (if you know whaf i mean) sits on it, then women have all their right to vacate the reserved seat.
And the amusing way conductor and bus driver communicate without talking to each other with the yellow string attached to a bell kinda thing. Which instructs the driver when to halt and when to continue. (BFF goals or what? :p)
The way conductor bhaisahab keeps on shrieking when he is obstructed by the commuters “AAGE JAAO NA” says a lot of things about why these conductors are almost always so frustrated.
The most entertaining part when you travel in a bus is when people struggle to manage their baggage, clothes, mobile and then somehow managing to remove change for the ticket while some don’t even hold the near seat for extra support. That’s the kind of confidence you need in life, right?
Then again the most compelling part is how people help you out by passing the cash and returning the ticket when the bus is crammed upand the conductor is out of reach.
And then there are those kind and beautiful souls which our world needs the most who give up their seats for someone else. (I’m one of them)
(not everyone does this but.. )
Oh and the saddest part on earth where you feel bad for yourself when you see someone very adorable for the first time and you know you’re not gonna be seeing them probably ever again.
Whereas,  when you find someone looking hot from behind but then they turn around and  are actually ‘Tatti’.  The very time where all your assumptions and thoughts stand still and you wish how do I unsee this.
So all in all, the bus ride is fair and kind of adventurous  if you’re by chance sitting on the last seats. It’s undoubtedly  a very convenient and affordable mode of transport for people who travel long distances daily.

Love yourself a little more.

7 things you’ve got to do for yourself this year.

Image result for love yourself quotes
1. BE KIND
“Try being a gem to them for they already have experienced stones.” There are untold stories behind every person that hold justifications for the kind of people that they are today. So, be a little more thoughtful before you judge someone. Little gestures like smiling and asking ‘how are you?’ can lighten up someone’s day. You’ll notice how nice you feel too after being kind.

2. SHOW SOME SELF LOVE
Not asking you to be obsessed with yourself here or act like a complete narcissist. But give yourself all the love you deserve. Cause if you don’t, who will?
If you think less of yourself, people around you will too. If you don’t respect yourself, people around you won’t too. Remember: People only think of you, what you think of yourself.

3. DON’T HOLD GRUDGES
The more you hold a grudge, the more you’re thinking about the person. So, for your own mental health and peace of mind, just give the grudge up.

4. WORKOUT
Do at least one form of physical activity; be it walking, some kind of sport, hitting the gym or yoga. A bare mininum of 20 minutes is all you need to spare from your busy schedule.

5. EAT HEALTHY
Eat healthy so you feel healthy, think better and achieve that flawless skin you’d been dreaming of. Also, keep your body hydrated. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

6. say I LOVE YOU more often
Let the person know you love them.

7. DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
Spare some more time and invest it in activities or hobbies of your interest. that’s going to help you feel so much more satisfied and content.

Lastly, take a deep breath and tell yourself, “IT’S OKAY.”

Mumbai, daily.

It’s really hard to fathom into words what Mumbai means to me. It’s strange how life in Mumbai is so fast, but, at the same time, spending just 5 minutes observing the waves at Marine drive can calm you down so quickly.

Also, have you really been to Mumbai if you haven’t tasted the mouth watering vada pav and the super tempting Chaat??? You can’t afford to miss these taste bud pleasing street foods.

Trains – One can’t not have experienced a train ride at least once if you’re in Mumbai. Even the most hoity crowd of Mumbai must have done that. Trains are of supreme importance for everyday commuters whose travel hours would otherwise go up to 5 hours a day or more were it not for the trains. P.S. The number of hours is directly proportional to the cost as for other modes of transport.
The efforts put in everyday and night by each individual in this city that almost never sleeps is commendable. Mumbaikars strive each day to feed their families, they run errands in between and after office hours a hundred times to drop their kids off to the various academic and extracurricular classes.
Mumbaikars are great at multitasking. From talking over the phone while driving to acting like you’re singing when you meet the eye of a traffic police, from boarding the local without a ticket to walking past the TC at the platform confidently when you’re actually praying to God inside, they do it all.
With the usual busy and fast life and no time to spare, you’ll pretty much everyday find people running behind trains like there’s not going to be a next one, but, you’ll also find people willing to aid if they find you in trouble, people feeding the poor, yet, you may find people who are solemnly upto no good, too.
What a paradox Mumbai is!
